Knowing what you are good at has a lot to do with energy.

A few weeks ago I published a post called: ‘WHO HAVE YOU BEEN?’

The first of the 3 series articles on looking into the past, the now and the future.

The questions I shared were on how people look back at their life and if they were at peace with their past. Most important of all, how their past has been a source of empowerment and gift for the present moment.

It was great to see, that some actually took the challenge upon themselves to spend time answering the questions and experiencing what the process was like. It is amazing isn’t it, when you realise that the interpretation of a situation (which can cause you either happiness or pain and everything in between) can changed instantly, simply by looking at it from a distance and over time from a place of an empowered you.

Are you being the very best version of yourself?

The questions for this week’s theme are:

  1. Do you know what your gifts and talents are?
  2. Are you able to bring your gifts and talents to life?
  3. What is going really well in your life today and what do you still find challenging and are you using your talents to help yourself?
  4. Do you approach situations in life with the ease and the same way you would play a game you like?

Most of us think that if we are lucky to have a good education and a job where we can earn a good living for ourselves and our family, then we have arrived financially and perhaps socially and in principle we are okay. Well yes for some that is indeed the case, whilst for others that is not the case at all, as they tend to be really good at what they do, yet they are not happy, energised or content. Why?

When you wake up in the morning, getting ready to go to work or to do the activities of the day,

  • Are you sincerely at peace with yourself, happy and grateful to be doing those activities?
  • Do you feel your activities have value to you and others?
  • Does the activity you do give you energy or does it drain you?
  • Do the people you work with give you energy or do they drain you?
  • When you come back home or at the end of the day are you feeling exhausted or still flowing with energy?

If you know what your talents and gifts are and have the opportunity to use them consciously in your daily activities (either in your job or on the home front) you will generally experience a sense of inner peace with yourself and your surroundings. You will naturally feel more confident and experience less moments of doubt and disempowering thoughts. You will have more happy days and you will feel that what you are doing is of value (even if it’s little), which will motivate you even further. You will GET energy from the activities you do and GIVE energy to others if they are willing to receive and appreciate your talents and gifts. These are a few of the things that you could experience if the activities that you do are more aligned with your natural talents and gifts.

Knowing what your talents are is the first important step. The next one is being aware when you are using them in the moment (Awareness of Talent in Action). Many people take their talents for granted, assuming others can do it just as well and therefore it’s not all that special, but the truth is that some of your talents have become such an integral part of who you are, that chances are that you are taking them for granted. It’s a journey of it’s own for you to become aware of your talents and your own unique talent vocabulary. Listen to yourself speak, and you will be amazed! Be aware of your state of mind as it is just as critical. Your talents can mean nothing if you believe they have no value, so it starts with you! Value what you have going for yourself!

Your talents will help you both in good and challenging times! When you look at the situations in your life that are going well or those you find challenging, ask yourself to what degree you are consciously using your gifts and talents to navigate those situations.

Start listening to the positive feedback you are receiving from others, what are they saying? What do they appreciate and admire in you? You may think it is nothing but to them it could be the world! But listen also to the criticism you are receiving and turn it around and discover for yourself what hidden talent gem is in there and then start to brush up on those talent skills for the embetterment of yourself and others.

Remember that you can choose to go about this in a relaxed, emergent and playful way, like when you are playing a game you like. Your talent awareness and development journey can be a lot of fun!
